“LIFE STARTS ALL OVER WHEN IT GETS CRISP IN THE FALL"
-knitworks-
KnitWorks are two fashion and textiles professionals who in 2011 decided to share their ideas and projects, start their own knitting workshop and begin to circulate their wares. Their autumn and winter textures, their quality finishes, and the warmth of their natural knitwear are some of the starting points we established when we began the project.

The Project is a result of these fashion designers’ passion for their work. And they´ve had years of experience to go with it. In the summer of 2011 we began to talk to them about what they were thinking, how they saw their Project and what were the strong points. Knowing their work helped us to see which way to go in creating a new brand for them.

The name ‘KnitWorks’ is the first step. It’s simple, clear and self-explicative.
We centred the graphic representation on aspects such as textures, finishes, warmth and the natural fibres.
The sensitivity this small company has for the finishes on their garments made us decide on a very fine typeface. We’re working on a simple, timeless logo that explains something about their work. A logo that presents KnitWorks. Their desire to present themselves to the world is what made us decide to create a bodily representation using the letters of the name, for photo sessions and different graphic materials. The brand will lead us to values such as the organic and natural world, which is why we built the letters K and W in wood.

After making the letters, we work on the photography. We exchange references and confirm we’re going in the same direction. We look for warm and natural colours. The images must show the product and transmit lifestyle and attitude.
Parallel to this, we look for samples to develop the paperwork design. Our aim is to find a texture that reminds us of some of the knitwear pieces we’ve seen. Finally we see that what we are really looking for is thick cardboard with grey tones and an irregular finish.
The work continues on the webpage. We develop a simple proposal that explains who and shows what, in a horizontal and vertical scroll as wide as is needed. The webpage is the whole imaginary Knitworks world of images and we build it with images, text, phrases and quotes.
